by James E. Burns, D.D.S. – NODA President
Hello my NODA Family. For those NODA members that attended the 2022 version of the New Orleans Dental Conference/LDA Annual Session, I say thank you. For those that didn’t attend; I still love ya. But boy, you really missed out as the young people say. Co-Chairs, Dr. Kristopher Rappold and Dr. Keith Kyler did an unbelievable job of organizing a top-notch conference that all Louisiana dentists should be proud of. Drs. Rappold and Kyler delivered and impressive event that provided outstanding education for all registrants.
On the Saturday of the Conference, we had our annual Louisiana House of Delegates. I would like to thank President-Elect Dr. Aubrey Baudean, Jr. for organizing and managing NODA’s Delegate Contingency. This is not an easy task being that we have the largest (22) delegate constituency in the state. I would also like to thank all the dentists that showed up very early on a Saturday to represented NODA at this event and as usual NODA was represented by truly the best of the best. Along those same lines, we also had Dentists’ Day at the legislature on April 27th in Baton Rouge. Thanks to all those people that took time out from their practice to attend this. I consider myself blessed to be the President of such a dedicated group of professionals. Please consider volunteering for one of the above-mentioned events. NODA would benefit from your talent.
Alright, now time to talk about my favourite NODA event. Our Annual Crawfish boil. This year it will be on Friday May 13th at The Kamp in Harahan from 5:00-8:00pm. As usual, we will have more than enough crawfish and fixings and drink for all that attend. This will coincide with our General Membership meeting for May. We will have no speaker, but we will have entertainment from singer-songwriter Kirk Holder. I was also thinking about belting out a few tunes, but I believe Harahan has a noise ordinance and I don’t want the event to be shut down. If you have not received an email for this event, please contact the NODA office to register.
After this event, we will be on our summer break, and we will resume in September with our next General membership meeting. Also, there will be no newsletter for June. I know it will be difficult to get through June without my pearls of wisdom, but you can do it. My two fingers that I type with need a rest. Have a safe and wonderful summer.
