Continuing Dental Education and Requirements For Relicensure and Membership

The following Continuing Education requirements are currently mandated by the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry for relicensure on the Biennial Relicensure System; i.e., relicensure every two years:

        During the (2) two year period, all dentists are required to earn a total of (40) forty clock hours of Continuing Education.

        These hours may be accumulated at any time during the (2) two year period.

        A minimum of (20) twenty of these hours must be clinical hours.

        All credit hours must be consistent with the rules promulgated by the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry.  For further clarification, please
        refer to Rule 1611 of the most current Dental Practice Act.

        Continuing education requirements for relicensure by the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry are also required to satisfy NODA and LDA
        membership requirements for all licensed members.

The following rulings are mandated  for certification and/or re-certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for all licensees:

        A total of (3) three non-clinical credit hours are earned for successful completion of each CPR Course.

        The Louisiana State Board of Dentistry will only accept CPR Course "C" - Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, as defined by
         the American Heart Association, the Red Cross Professional Rescue Course, or an equivalent.  (Contact the local chapters of the
         American Heart Association and the American Red Cross for further information).
